1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Reviews mobile app, reviewsapp.com, product pages, support pages, and related services that link to this policy. It does not apply to third-party websites, stores, products, payment processors, or services that Reviews does not control.
2. Important health and food privacy note
Reviews provides product scores and label context. Reviews is not a health care provider, health plan, pharmacy, insurer, dietitian, or medical device. Information you enter may still reveal sensitive interests, such as foods you scan, products you save, allergies you mention in support, or questions about ingredients. We treat that information carefully and use it only to provide, protect, improve, and support Reviews.
Do not send medical records, diagnosis information, prescription details, full payment card numbers, or emergency health information through Reviews support forms.
3. Information we collect
- Account information: display name, email address, sign-in provider identifiers, profile settings, selected mascot, and account status.
- Scan and product activity: barcodes scanned, scan timestamps, product pages opened, product images or label evidence submitted through scanning, search terms, pantry saves, history, and product corrections.
- Reviews and user content: ratings, written reviews, verification scan status, likes, moderation signals, and content you submit to product pages.
- Subscription and purchase status: entitlement, trial, renewal, cancellation, and purchase metadata from Apple, RevenueCat, or other payment infrastructure. Reviews does not receive your full payment card number.
- Support information: name, email, topic, message, product or barcode details, attachments if we later allow them, and the response history needed to help you.
- Device and usage information: app version, device type, operating system, crash logs, diagnostics, approximate region, IP address, security events, and analytics needed to keep the service reliable.
- Website information: pages visited, waitlist submissions, referral source, browser data, and cookies or similar technologies needed for security, analytics, and basic site operation.
4. Sources of information
We collect information directly from you, from your device, from sign-in and payment providers, from public or licensed product data sources, from product labels or images, from app analytics and diagnostics, and from service providers that help us operate Reviews.
5. How we use information
- Provide scanning, search, product pages, scores, rankings, pantry, history, reviews, account sync, and support.
- Generate provisional scan results, send products for review, detect duplicate barcodes, improve product data, and repair inaccurate product images or evidence.
- Authenticate users, manage subscriptions, restore purchases, prevent fraud, secure accounts, and enforce our terms.
- Respond to support, correction, privacy, and deletion requests.
- Analyze performance, crashes, slow screens, search quality, and scanner reliability.
- Comply with legal, safety, fraud-prevention, tax, accounting, and App Store obligations.
6. AI and scoring processors
Reviews may use AI infrastructure and other service providers to help read product labels, classify product types, generate provisional scan results, summarize product evidence, detect unsafe or low-quality data, and route products for additional review. We limit what we send to what is reasonably needed for the task, such as barcode, product name, brand, image URL, ingredient text, nutrition facts, category, and product evidence. We do not intentionally send medical records or full payment details to these processors.
7. How we share information
- Service providers: cloud hosting, Firebase/Google infrastructure, authentication, analytics, crash reporting, email support, AI processing, product data, and payment entitlement tools.
- Payment platforms: Apple, RevenueCat, or similar processors to manage subscriptions, trials, refunds, and restore purchase status.
- Public product content: verified reviews, ratings, display names, and product corrections may appear in the app or website. We avoid showing full last names when possible, but you should not submit private information in public review text.
- Legal and safety: when required by law, to protect users, to prevent fraud or abuse, to enforce terms, or to respond to valid legal process.
- Business changes: if Reviews is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or asset transfer, information may transfer as part of that transaction subject to this policy.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for third-party behavioral advertising.
8. Retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide Reviews, maintain scan history and pantry sync, protect the service, comply with law, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and improve product data. Product evidence, barcode records, and anonymized or aggregated scoring data may be kept after account deletion when needed to maintain the shared product catalog, unless law requires otherwise.
9. Your privacy choices and rights
- You can request access, correction, deletion, or export of your personal information by contacting support@reviewsapp.com.
- You can delete or edit some account information in the app when those controls are available.
- You can opt out of non-essential communications by using unsubscribe links or contacting support.
- You can manage Apple subscription cancellation and refunds through Apple.
- Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under state, federal, or international privacy laws. We will honor applicable rights requests after verifying your identity.
10. Children
Reviews is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact support so we can review and delete it where required.
11. Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including authentication, access controls, encrypted transport, server-side secrets, rate limits, logging, and review of high-risk flows. No system is perfectly secure, so you should use a strong device passcode, protect your sign-in account, and avoid sending sensitive information through support messages.
12. International users
Reviews is operated from the United States. If you use Reviews from another country, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our providers operate.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Reviews changes. If a change is material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users through the app, website, email, or another appropriate method.
